Project description

Total renovation of the listed headquarters of the Frankfurter Bankgesellschaft directly opposite the National Bank, in the immediate vicinity of Zurich’s Bahnhofstrasse. The renovation included full interior and exterior refurbishment, i.e. new windows and display windows, a new roof area that was previously underutilized, and restoration of the sandstone facade. Inside, various floor plan changes were made that could only be implemented by means of structural measures. This also concerned the 5th floor and the two attic floors, which had to be combined with a gallery across several floors and equipped with direct access to the new terrace. All the offices and meeting rooms are now cooled and ventilated by means of cooling ceilings or cooling walls. Cooling walls were used in places where the old stucco ceilings had been restored. The entire entrance areas on the ground floor, including the reception, were also redesigned and architecturally repurposed.
The entire refurbishment was carried out in 18 months, following preliminary planning lasting 1.5 years.
